LAMBORGHINI URUS
We always love working on repeat clients’ cars. Each project offers an opportunity to elevate our skills, showcase new materials, and push boundaries. This time, we had the privilege of working on a Lamborghini Urus audio upgrade, working with some of Audison’s and Hertz’s
Hertz Mille Legend ML280.3 Tweeter
Hertz Mille Legend ML700.3 Mid Range
Hertz Mille Legend ML1800.3 Mid Bass
Audison Voce AV 1.1 Tweeter (fits in the stock location)
Hertz Mille Legend ML1650 Mid Bass
2 x Hertz Mille MPS 250 S4
Audison Forza AFM12.14 bit
Audison Forza AF M1D
3 x SKINZ Bulk Packs 3mm sound deadening
The Brief:
Our client wanted an audio system that showcased a bit of custom flair but still maintained the full usability of the vehicle.
Having previously installed a smaller system in the client’s Defender 110 pickup, using Audison components with fantastic results, we knew we could step things up a notch with this project.
The Audio System in Detail:
The first part of this Lamborghini Urus audio upgrade was In the front, we blended OEM elements with custom craftsmanship to create an OEM+ visual, while significantly improving sound depth and clarity—two areas where the Urus was sorely lacking.
We started by stripping down the front doors and applying a triple layer of 3mm SKINZ sound deadening to the outer skin, inner skin, and the back of the door card. The factory 6.5” mid-bass speaker was replaced with the 7” Hertz Mille Legend ML1800.3, mounted in a custom in-house 3D printed enclosure. This setup allowed for a full bolt-on installation with no additional holes drilled. We even 3D-printed a female adapter for the wiring harness, ensuring a complete plug-and-play system that didn’t interrupt the factory wiring—making it fully reversible if needed.
Interestingly, this Urus didn’t come with a midrange speaker, which is typically included in Lamborghini’s audio upgrade package. This gave us a fantastic opportunity to add one, enhancing the system while keeping a custom edge. We built both the Hertz Mille Legend ML700.3 Mid Range and the ML280.3 Tweeter into the A-pillar.
This bespoke A-pillar design was a challenging feat, but we managed to make it look like a Lamborghini bespoke upgrade. We captured elements from the original speaker grille pattern in the doors and the silver trim along the dash, incorporating them seamlessly into the A-pillars. The result? A stunning visual enhancement that blends perfectly with the vehicle’s cockpit, while also giving the sound more depth, clarity, and richness—revealing layers of complexity that were previously lost in the stock system.
Rear Speakers:
The rear seating area was more straightforward, as we used the stock locations for the speakers. We designed and 3D-printed custom baffles to fit the upgraded components (Audison Voce AV 1.1 Tweeter and Hertz Mille Legend ML1650 Mid Bass), ensuring another plug-and-play, bolt-in application. We then applied the 3-layer SKINZ treatment to the rear doors also, and the difference in the mid-bass response from both the front and rear doors is phenomenal—the bass is mind-blowing!
Boot Area:
For the boot, the client needed full use of the space, as he often carries his dogs. We wanted to deliver impressive bass while keeping the floor space fully functional. Our solution was to build a custom sealed enclosure for two Hertz Mille MPS 250 S4 subwoofers, mounted under the factory floor for everyday use. The subs provide massive bass, which can be controlled via a DRC controller mounted in the armrest, allowing the client to adjust the bass to match the mood—or turn it down when the dogs are in the back.
The boot was fully soundproofed with 3mm SKINZ sound deadening before fabrication began. To enhance the visual aspect, we illuminated the install with a bespoke acrylic design that mimics the factory grille pattern, creating synergy throughout the vehicle. The entire setup was finished in matching genuine Alcantara, blending seamlessly with the rest of the interior.
DSP Amplifiers:
The heart of the system is the Audison Forza amplifiers, which power the Hertz components. For their size, these amps deliver immense power, and their next-generation DSP technology is essential for setting up and tuning a fully active system like this one. We converted the simple 4-way passive system into a 12-channel active concert hall, offering an unmatched level of sound quality.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, this was an exceptional project. Not only did we elevate the sound and visual quality of this underwhelming stock audio system, but we also pushed our team’s skills to new heights. This install showcases how car audio should be done, combining innovation, precision, and aesthetic harmony.
Stick around for the next one!
